Monday mornings suck!
Regardless of whether you work a typical work schedule or suffer through an erratic schedule, Monday’s, especially Monday mornings, seem to suck for everyone.
My kid and I barely rolled out of our beds this morning, shuffled through rooms in the dark, and fumbled around trying to get ready. My kids scarfed down his breakfast while I packed his lunch, we throw our shoes on and rushed out the door. We left the house about 30 seconds before we needed to and hauled our butts to the bus stop. This is every Monday morning for us and they never get easier.
I fell asleep early last night with every intention of getting up early to finish writing the chapter I was working on, but instead I slept for 10 hours. I’ve been working to adjust my schedule to be more of a morning person, but it’s harddddd. I never realized just how much of a night owl I am until I tried to make the switch. But, it’s just going to take time and it seems as you age you also gain more patience, so I have that going for me.
Despite my lack of productivity this morning, I do feel well rested at least. Sleep is something I struggle with constantly, and while I’ve been quitting nicotine, it’s been far worse. Hopefully, by the end of the month, I will be back on track and can actually get to a real sleep schedule going.
Routines & schedules seem to be the theme of the year.
Everything I’ve been working on since the start of the year has been in some way to form better routines for myself and actually follow a schedule. I have so many plans for my future and there’s no way I’m going to be able to accomplish it all if I don’t pull myself together. My dreams of being fully self-employed won’t be possible if I continue the routines and habits I have now. But, change is exhausting, so will be all the work I have ahead of me. Hence why, the first item of mine to fix is my sleep, and part of that is getting rid of the very things I’ve been using as a crutch. I’ve never been resistant to change, just always been one to thoroughly plan it out first, and I’m learning somethings can’t be planned. You just have to do.
AND THAT IS HARD.
For me, I am exceptionally type-a, and very much need to plan EVERYTHING out. It’s a problem sometimes. I do live in the moment when it calls, but when it comes to things like my future plans and how I’m going to get there….I have spreadsheets & schedules. I’m not proud of it, but they exist. Currently, those spreadsheets & schedules are useless until I get my own crap together. I’ll get there. By the end of the year, these posts will be talking about how I did it, not what I’m planning on doing.
There has been some successes to celebrate though…my book on Kindle Vella has been “Top Faved” all weekend. The number of readers has almost doubles already this month and we are only a few days in. I have already almost reached the same royalties as I did all of last month. To see that is absolutely insane & I’m soooooo very appreciative of everyone who has taken the time to show my book some love! It’s truly motivating me to keep going & make all these changes to better myself.
Well, time to go be an adult.
Happy Monday!
